For 38 games each summer, the youngest prospects in the Boston Red Sox baseball farm system ply their trade at LeLacheur Park in Lowell.
But those nine-inning games are contested between players at the same point in their careers-short-season, Class-A minor league baseball. The Lowell Spinners roster, and that of their counterparts, is not a mix of veterans and rookies playing side-by-side (other than the rare exception of a rehabbing major leaguer).
