BOSTON -- Blue and white, a classic color combination, has been around for centuries, especially in the beloved porcelain created a millennium ago in the Islamic world and Asia and favored in Europe and America.

Today's artists give the old favorite a contemporary twist for the modern sensibility in New Blue and White at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston.

On view Feb. 20 through July 14, the exhibit features artists exploring blue and white design in ceramics, fashion, decorations and more.

Highlighted are nearly 70 works by an international group of artists, many showing never-before-seen work. They include Ann Agee of the U.S., Katsuyo Aoki of Japan, Felicity Aylieff of the United Kingdom and Ah Xian of Australia. Recent works by ceramic sculptor Chris Antemann and fashion designer Rodarte will be featured from the MFA collection.
