LOWELL -- On Saturday, July 27, Gemstones and Blue Shamrock will host the Folk and Rage Fest from 2 p.m. until 1:30 a.m. The event is all ages until 10 p.m., when it will become 21-plus. The Folk and Rage Fest will be donating a good portion of its proceeds to the charitable organization Take Heart, dedicated to raising awareness of organ donation and keeping families together, one donor at a time. The Gemstones stage will be headlined by Transit, the Venetia Fair, and US, From Outside along with a surprise co-headliner and several others, after which a 21-plus after party will ensue. The Take Heart stage will feature acoustic and folk performances throughout. Tickets to the Gemstones stage will be $10 in advance or $12 at the door, and the 21-plus after party will be $5. The Take Heart stage will be free, but donations will be accepted online or at the door. Visit http://folknragefest.eventbrite.com/.
Punk-flavored acoustic rockers, The Payne-Taylors, will be hitting the stage for a special appearance at the Lowell Folk Festival on Sunday, July 28, at 2 p.m., in front of Cobblestones Restaurant, 91 Dutton St. The duo are celebrating the completion of their new EP, "Getaway Car."
