Fabric artists make magic with colorful materials, thread, needles and assorted embellishments.
The Brush Art Gallery & Studios' new exhibition, "We've Got Personality," proves that point. The exhibit, on view Aug. 3-Sept. 14, is a juried show of amazing art quilts inspired by human and animal portraits.
The quilt artists created self-portraits, family portraits, friend portraits and, of course, animal and pet portraits, each more vibrant than the next in the colorful show.
Jurors Mary Walter and Sandy Donabed selected the portraits from an array of submissions by artists from as nearby as Lowell and Methuen and as far away as Florida, Colorado and Tennessee.
Massachusetts artists with work in the show include Eliza Ryan and Tricia Deck of Lincoln; Debbie and Cristina Freitas of Lowell; Sandy Gregg of Cambridge; Janice Jones of, Methuen; Mary-Ellen Latino of Northboro; Deborah Rocha of Newton; Jeannette Spencer of Hull; and Bobbie Sullivan of Plymouth.
A reception with the artists is set for Saturday, Aug. 10, from 2-4 p.m., at The Brush, 256 Market St., Lowell. Call 978-459-7819 or visit www.thebrush.org.
