CHELMSFORD -- As the holiday season draws to a close, the Aldersgate United Methodist Church presents Gian Carol Menotti's well-known opera Amahl and the Night Visitors Jan. 11-13.
Adam Lavoie, 11, of Chelmsford stars as Amahl, a poor crippled boy, who along with his widowed mother, finds his life changed forever after a visit from the Three Kings on their way to Bethlehem to visit the Christ Child.
The compassionate story and beautiful music capture the essence of the Christmas season and are appropriate for family audiences.

- LANDMARK SHOW: Sixty years after the publication of Ralph Ellison's landmark novel Invisible Man, the Huntington Theatre Company presents the first authorized stage adaptation, with performances Jan. 4-Feb. 3 in the BU Theatre, 264 Huntington Ave., Boston. Invisible Man is about an unnamed, idealistic young African-American and his search for identity and his place in the world as he journeys through 1930s America. This production, with a script by Oren Jacoby, stars Teagle F. Bougere and is directed by Christopher McElroen.
