Miles Jacoby is excited. But what young actor wouldn't be thrilled to land a lead in Jersey Boys, a huge Broadway hit, a year after finishing college.
Wellesley native Jacoby did it last summer when he got the part of Bob Gaudio in the show. He brings him to life for the hometown crowd, when Jersey Boys plays the Citi Colonial Theatre Jan. 30 through March 9.
Jersey Boys tells the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, the legendary group who rose to fame in the late '50s and early '60s with hits like "Walk Like a Man" and "Sherry."
"Bob was a young kid who'd had a hit with 'Short Shorts' when he met Frankie. He was good at playing piano and knew how to write for Frankie's voice. He was also the brains of the operation, knew how to market them and was the nice guy behind it all," said Jacoby.
He met Gaudio during rehearsals in New York.
"He's a kind man, and we got together to sing his material -- that was a thrill," he said.
It's also thrilling to play the Colonial.
"I saw my first musical there as a kid, now I'm performing on that stage. I can't wait," he said.
