LOWELL -- On Saturday, Feb. 9, at 3 p.m., more than 120 Lowell public school students age 8 to 18 who are members of the Lowell Youth Orchestra will perform in four musical ensembles during a winter concert.

The orchestra is an outgrowth of the UMass Lowell String Project, which provides stringed-instrument instruction, music education and performance experience to Lowell public school students.

The concert will be held at Durgin Concert Hall, Durgin Hall, South Campus, 35 Wilder St., Lowell. Admission to the concert is free but donations will be accepted after the performance to support the string project's work.
