NASHUA, N.H. -- After a brilliant Bach's Lunch Concert performance in 2015, violinist Egle Jarkova returns to open the 2018 series Wednesday, June 27, at noon at Nashua Public Library, 2 Court St.
In her earlier appearance at the library, Egle Jarkova was accompanied by pianist Rui Urayama. This year, with the addition of Aristides Rivas on cello, the program includes trios by Beethoven and Arensky as well as Piazzolla's "Oblivion."
The concert is sponsored by the Zylonis trust. Future performances in the library's Bach's Lunch series include:
July 11: Mezzo-Soprano Danute Mileika.
July 18: North Winds Quintet Family Concert.
July 25: Bloom/Leighton Duo (flute and guitar).
Aug. 1: Seven Times Salt (Shakespearean music).
Aug. 8: Festival Chamber Players (woodwinds).
Aug. 15: Amadi and Debby Azikiwe (strings and piano).
All performances are held in the library's newly renovated Chandler Memorial Wing. They begin at noon, last about one hour, and are free and open to the public. While they are suggested for ages 5 and up, this year a family concert, which will delight adults and children of all ages, has been added to the series on July 18.
Concert-goers are welcome to bring a lunch to eat in the Chandler Wing café area during the concert.
On Thursday nights, starting June 28, grab a blanket or lawn chair, pack a picnic basket and head over to Nashua Public Library for Summer Concerts on the Plaza.
The series opens with the Pete Kilpatrick Band, named Best Act four times in the Best Music Awards in Portland, Maine.
The band has shared the stage with the likes of the Dave Matthews Band, Barenaked Ladies, Rusted Root and Jason Mraz. Pete's music has been featured on "The Office," "The Young and the Restless," and other TV shows.
The Bangor Daily News says Kilpatrick has a "knack for songwriting that combines pop chops with sensitive, introspective lyricism." Listen to his music at petekilpatrickband.com.
Other concerts in the library's outdoor series include:
July 5: Criollo Clasico (Latin)
July 12: Bullock Brothers (gospel).
July 19: Jay Psaros (singer/songwriter).
July 26: Nick Goumas Jazz Quartet
Aug. 2: Blue Suede Boppers (retro rock 'n' roll).
All performances begin at 7 p.m., and are free and open to the public. In the event of rain, they are held indoors in the library's Chandler Memorial Wing.
The series is sponsored by the Friends of the Nashua Public Library and the Bloomfield Trust. The library is at 2 Court St. Visit nashualibrary.org/visit/directions for directions and parking information. For other information, email email@example.com, or call 603-589-4610.
