The first announcement of the 2019 Lowell Summer Music Series lineup, released earlier this week, is one of the most enduring acts of the past half-century -- the Beach Boys.

The second announcement is one of the most buzzworthy acts to play Boarding House Park in quite some time.

The Record Company will play the Lowell Summer Music Series on Saturday, July 13, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, which are $34 in advance and $134 for premium seats in front of the stage, go on sale Friday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. (The Beach Boys are on sale this Friday at 10 a.m.)

The California-based, Grammy-nominated three-piece, whose influences include John Lee Hooker, The Stooges and The Rolling Stones, is a critical darling that has opened for John Mayer, B.B. King, Social Distortion, Buddy Guy, Grace Potter, Blackberry Smoke and Trombone Shorty.

Their Grammy nomination came two years ago, when their album "Give It Back to You" was nominated for Best Contemporary Blues Album. (They lost to Fantastic Negrito's "The Last Days of Oakland.")

The Record Company played House of Blues in October, and one eyewitness account says they "rocked the place." The buzz soon followed, with people who were there saying it's worth checking them out on Spotify and other streaming music services.

They're bluesy but upbeat, and, as LSMS organizer Peter Aucella told The Sun last week, "a real up-and-coming band, and we are glad to get them!"

The group is currently touring in support of Bob Seger's farewell tour, but their spring/summer dates that bring them to Lowell will also include stops at Red Rocks Amphitheater, Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, and Firefly Music Festival.
