Add two more shows to the burgeoning Lowell Summer Music Series lineup, as organizers announced this week that The Wallflowers and Mat Kearney will come to Boarding House Park this summer as part of the 30th season of the venerable summer concert series.
The Wallflowers featuring Jakob Dylan will perform Saturday, July 20, at 7:30 p.m., while Kearney will come to town Sunday, Aug. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
Advance tickets for The Wallflowers are $49 and premium seats in front of the stage are $149. Tickets will go on sale Friday, March 8, at 10 a.m., at www.lowellsummermusic.org.
Advance tickets for Kearney are $35 (premium seats are $135). Tickets go on sale today, Thursday, March 7, at 10 a.www.lowellsummermusic.org.
The Wallflowers are, of course, led by vocalist/songwriter/guitarist Dylan, the son of Bob Dylan. That said, The Wallflowers cut their own path with hits like "6th Avenue Heartache," "One Headlight," "The Difference," "Three Marlenas" and "Heroes."
The Wallflowers have won two Grammy Awards -- best rock performance by a duo or group with vocal and best rock song, both for "One Headlight" in 1998.
Kearney brings his unique mélange of melody-driven songwriting that encompasses organic instruments, electronic samples, house grooves, tropical sounds and even DJ collaborations. He puts all that behind solid hooks and lyrics that make you think about the music. He earned critical acclaim and popular recognition for his major-label debut album, "Nothing Left to Lose," and has placed five top 20 hits on the Adult Top 40 chart.
