'La Cage' at Reagle
The hilarious, heart-warming "La Cage aux Folles" brings down the curtain on the 51st summer season at Reagle Music Theatre of Greater Boston in Waltham. Performances are Aug. 8-18 and include four evening shows and four matinees. The show is about what happens when the gay owner of a glitzy drag club comes face to face with a bigoted politician (and soon-to-be in-law), all in the name of love and family. The show features Broadway alum James Darrah as Albin, the drag star at the La Cage aux Folles nightclub, and J.T. Turner as Georges, the love of his life and the club owner. The show features a score by Jerry Herman, including the songs "I Am What I Am" and "The Best of Times," with a book by Harvey Feinstein. Tickets are $25-$69 and available at www.reaglemusictheatre.org or call 781-891-5600.
Lower than 'The Sopranos'?
Dubbed "like the Sopranos, only lower," "The Altos" will open the Cannon Theatre's 10th season Sept. 12-14 at Concord's Colonial Inn. The audience-participation murder mystery is written by David Landau and directed by Meredith Jones. Included in the larger-than-life dinner-and-show production are local mob boss Tony Alto, his grieving wife, Toffee, and other crazy characters.
