Lowell will host its WinterFest celebration Friday, Feb. 22, and Saturday, Feb. 23, after postponing it earlier in the month because of the blizzard.
Opening Ceremony will be held Friday at 6:15 p.m. The first round of the Human Dog Sled Competition will also run Friday, 6:30-9:30 p.m., and return 3-5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The North Bowl Soup Competition will be held Friday, 7-9 p.m. and Saturday, 1-4 p.m., at the Masonic Center, 79 Dutton St. The 21-plus Microbrew Showcase and Competition will be held Friday, 7-10 p.m., at the Fahrenheit Sponsor Tent on Fr. Morissette Blvd.
Warm up on Arcand Drive at the Polar Party at Club Celsius with food, beverages and live music on Friday 6:30 p.m.-midnight, and Saturday, noon-midnight; 21-plus to enter after 6 p.m. each night.
Saturday afternoon features the All-You-Can-Eat Chocolate Festival 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at St. Anne's Episcopal Church Hall. There will also be live ice sculpture demonstrations, horse-drawn carriage rides, a meet-and-greet with real sled-pulling Husky dogs and the Light & Laser Show Grand Finale at 5:40 p.m. on Saturday.
