LOWELL -- The Lowell Humane Society will host its annual SPAY-ghetti Dinner, an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner fundraiser and sauce contest, Saturday, Feb. 17, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Lowell Senior Center 276 Broadway St.

The event is an annual celebration to promote spaying and neutering in the community. In addition to a delicious meal, there will be raffles, a bake sale and silent auction available, as well as performances by The Hawkettes, UMass Lowell's all-female a-capella group, and the No Bully Zone dancers. Any interested in performing can contact the shelter.

The annual SPAY-ghetti Dinner is made possible thanks to The Fruit Center Marketplace of Milton, which has donated the food for the evening's festivities for the past four years. The Humane Society is accepting sponsors for the event to cover additional costs of supplies.

Dinner includes spaghetti, garlic bread, salad and drinks. Tickets are $10 and kids eat for $5.

New this year, people can enter homemade sauce competition. The entry is $5; register online in advance at www.lowellhumanesociety.org. The winner will take home a gift basket of kitchen gadgets and a $25 gift certificate to a local supermarket.
