With a sprinkle of pixie dust, North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly takes flight with a new production of Peter Pan on stage July 10-22. Based on Sir James M. Barrie's beloved children's classic, the musical follows the adventures of Peter Pan, the boy who refuses to grow up, and his fairy sidekick Tinkerbelle. Late one night, they visit the nursery of the Darling children and begin a magical journey across the stars to Neverland that none of them will ever forget.
"Peter Pan brings many challenges for our in-the-round staging, but our talented staff knows how to work our unique space to our advantage and will have audiences feeling as if they are flying right alongside Peter, Tinkerbelle, and the Darling kids," said Bill Hanney, NSMT owner and producer.
Numerous actresses, including Mary Martin, Sandy Duncan and Cathy Rigby, have played the impish Peter Pan since the musical debuted on Broadway in 1954. Elena Ricardo has the honor of playing Pan at NSMT. She's also worked on Broadway in Mamma Mia! and toured in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.
James Beaman plays Mr.
Darling and Captain Hook.
Local favorite actress Kathy St.
George joins the ensemble as Mrs. Darling and one of the pirates. Bob Richard directs and Diane Laurenson choreographs. Leigh Nilsen is music director.
Tickets are $59-$84. Kids 18 and under save 50 percent at all performances. Call 978-2327200, visit www.nsmt.org or the box office at 62 Dunham Road, Beverly.
