The Chelmsford Community Jazz Band will perform a special concert at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts on Saturday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature two musical premieres. Jay Daly will present "Five Decades of Popular Trumpet Solos," a set of music featuring Daly playing in the styles of such trumpet greats as Bunny Berigan, Harry James, Al Hirt, Herb Alpert, Louis Armstrong and others. The second premiere will feature a composition written by the band's director, Art Bakopolus, a well-known saxophonist. Tickets are $15 ($10 for students and seniors) and may be purchased at the door or at https://chelmsfordarts.org/may-4th-jay-daly-trumpet-with-the-chelmsford-jazz-ensemble. The concert is supported in part by the Chelmsford Cultural Council, which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
Meanwhile, the Summertime Jazz Band will perform at Shirley Meeting House on Sunday, 5 p.m. ($15 suggested donation)
