On Friday, Dec. 7, Stephen King will speak at the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell (sold out; sponsorships available beginning at $1,000). Lowell Memorial Auditorium will host Grateful Dead tribute act Dark Star Orchestra on Saturday ($27.50) and The Laurie Berkner Band on Sunday ($23). At the Blue Taleh, Dennis James plays Friday and Ralph Funaro plays Saturday. Sarah Blacker performs at the Back Page on Friday and Brickyard Blues appears Saturday.
At Blue Ocean Music Hall in Salisbury, Robert Cray Band plays Friday. The Acton Jazz Cafe will host the David Arteaga Quartet (free) and No Static (sold out) on Friday, and Wendee Glick and Friends ($10) and The James Montgomery Band ($15) on Saturday. Billy Joe Shaver will play Bull Run Restaurant in Shirley on Friday ($25) before Tom Rush plays there Saturday ($40). Rush will also be at Tupelo Music Hall in Londonderry, N.H., on Sunday ($35); The Smithereens will be there Saturday (sold out).
In Boston, Dave Matthews Band will play TD Garden on Sunday ($87.90). The Wilbur Theatre will host Graham Parker and The Rumour tonight ($35.50), The Dan Band on Friday ($31), Artie Lange on Saturday ($45.70) and Clay Aiken on Sunday ($45.70). At the House of Blues, Marina and the Diamonds play Friday ($22.50) and Band of Horses play Saturday ($32.50). And Paradise Rock Club will host Sister Hazel on Friday ($20), The Faint on Saturday ($22) and Japandroids on Sunday ($16).
