Let's make it two weeks in a row with an announcement that a New Orleans-based band is coming to Boarding House Park this summer as part of the Lowell Summer Music Series.
The latest announcement is of The Revivalists, who will come to Lowell on Friday, Aug. 3, for a show at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, which go on sale Friday, April 6, at 9 a.m., at www.lowellsummermusic.org, are $45 in advance and $145 for premium seating.
The seven-piece band has a unique sound that melds a bayou sound with a jam-band vibe. The resulting work has been praised by Rolling Stone as one of "10 Bands You Need to Know" thanks to songs like "Monster," "Wish I Knew You" (which made it to number 84 on the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart), "Keep Going" and "Criminal."
They've earned praise from Entertainment Weekly, Buzzfeed, Flaunt, Paste and Interview magazines, and performed on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!," "Conan," "The Today Show" and "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
They've been part of Bonnaroo, Governor's Ball, Outside Lands, Austin City Limits, New Orleans Jazz Fest and Central Park's SummerStage in New York City.
Through relentless touring and great word-of-mouth publicity, the Revivalists have steadily built their fan base, and their blend of swing and Southern roots music is expected to be a crowd-pleaser here in Lowell.
