She has sold millions of albums, won plenty of awards, and been a staple of country-music radio (with some cross-over success on the pop chart as well), so it's kind of a big deal that Sara Evans is coming to Blue Ocean Music Hall in Salisbury.
Evans performs at the oceanfront venue Thursday, June 28, at 8 p.m. Morgan Myles opens. Tickets, on sale now at www.blueoceanhall.com, are $69.50 for reserved seating, $195 for a VIP package.
Evans has had five No. 1 singles on the country chart, won the Academy of Country Music Top Female Vocalist Award and claimed a Country Music Association award for her classic song "Born to Fly."
Expect to hear that and other of her biggest hits, including country chart-toppers "No Place That Far," "Suds in the Bucket," "A Real Fine Place to Start" and "A Little Bit Stronger." You might also hear some of her seven Top 40 singles, including her cover of Edwin McCain's "I Could Not Ask For More" and "I Keep Looking."
Evans has collaborated with the Warren Brothers, Vince Gill, Martina McBride, Mindy McCready, Lorrie Morgan, Phil Vassar (who plays Blue Ocean on Friday) and Pat Green, among others. She has covered songs by Bruce Hornsby ("Every Little Kiss"), Rod Stewart ("My Heart Can't Tell You No") and Gavin DeGraw ("Not Over You") as well.
Born in a small town in Missouri, she moved to Nashville in 1991, when she was 20, briefly moving to Oregon a year later before returning to Nashville in 1995. These days, she lives in a Birmingham, Ala., suburb with her husband, former University of Alabama quarterback Jay Barker, and their children.
She has made numerous TV appearances over the years, including guest spots on "Nashville Star," "HGTV Design Star" and as a contestant on "Dancing With the Stars" in 2006. She has been on "CMT Crossroads" three times, once with Maroon 5, once with Joe Walsh, Kenny Chesney, Hunter Hayes, Brad Paisley, Luke Bryan and Billy Gibbons, and once with REO Speedwagon.
Evans is a consummate performer, so this is a rare chance to see her in an intimate setting. Don't miss out.
