UMass Lowell faculty and student artists are a talented lot, it's true. And this winter, they expand their audience beyond the campus with exhibits in several downtown galleries.
And at this weekend's Winterfest, you can come in from the cold and savor these shows at simultaneous receptions on Saturday, Feb. 24.
"Burning Minds," an exhibit sponsored by the Arts League of Lowell, is on view at the ALL Arts Gallery, 307 Market St. Saturday's reception is from 4 to 6 p.m., and the exhibit is on view through March 4.
Enjoy refreshments and see print work by UML artists at the "Biennial Printmakers Exhibit" reception at the LTC Gallery, 246 Market St., on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. The exhibit runs through March 24 and is open Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
UMass Lowell faculty share their work in an exhibit at The Brush Art Gallery and Studios, 256 Market St. It opens Saturday and runs through March 24. Saturday's reception is from 2-4 p.m.
Ayer Lofts Gallery, 172 Middle St., has exhibited "Voice & Vision," featuring works by UML artists since early in the month. It closes Saturday with a reception from 2 to 6 p.m.
MORE LOWELL OFFERINGS: "The Portuguese in Lowell in the 20th Century" opened earlier this week and runs through March 30 at UMass Lowell's University Crossing, second floor, at 220 Pawtucket St., Lowell. It is hosted by the UMass Lowell Saab Center for Portuguese Studies.
DABBLE IN ART: In case you missed signing up for her March class at The Brush, artist Claire Gagnon offers "Initiation to Painting," a 2-hour class for beginner adults, on Saturday, April 7, 1 to 3 p.m., at ALL Arts Gallery, 307 Market St., Lowell. Gagnon, an award-winning artist with more than 20 years of experience in acrylic painting, will help participants paint an impression of a still life.
