DRACUT -- Feeling hungry?
More than two dozen restaurants will bring their unique tastes to "Dining Around Dracut," a large fundraiser being hosted Monday by the Dracut Rotary Club.
It's the club's first time hosting the fundraising effort after another group, Circle of Friends, ended its run several years ago. Dining Around Dracut will be held this Monday, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Lenzi's Millhouse, 810 Merrimack Ave. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door.
Tickets can be purchased at A Tux Formal, Szczepanik Insurance, Daigle Insurance, Enterprise Bank on Lakeview Avenue, Dracut Hardware, Fox Cut Salon and Alexander's Pharmacy.
"We're excited," said LouAnn Jendro, public-relations chair for the Rotary Club.
Dracut Rotary Club is part of Rotary International, a worldwide service organization of business and professional men and women whose mission is to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build good will and peace throughout the world.
Some of the participating restaurants in Dining Around Dracut include Brickhouse Pizza, Amici's Cafe, Pita Restaurant, Heavenly Donuts, Casa Blanca Mexican Restaurant, and the FireWater Tavern at Wamesit Lanes.
"We are always happy to showcase the great food we have, and many become regular customers of ours after sampling our offerings," said Loretta Ryan, sales and marketing director for Wamesit Lanes on Main Street in Tewksbury.
Ryan added that her team looks forward to the fundraiser, having just participated in the Lowell Winterfest Soup Bowl Competition last weekend.
Participants will also have the chance to vote on the dishes they like most. The winning businesses will get bragging rights.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward mostly local charity projects, according to Jendro.
"Locally, we're longtime supporters of the Dracut Scholarship Foundation. We support the Dracut Food Pantry," Jendro said.
Jendro said she and other organizers hope it'll be standing room only at the fundraiser.
"We really don't know since it's our first time doing this, but it has been a very well-attended event in the past," she said. "We are hoping that we have the same type of community participation. The community has always been very supportive of our events, so we are definitely hoping that we will get that same type of community support because then we turn around and whatever money we make, we give away.
