TEWKSBURY -- Strongwater Farm will host a Harvest Hoedown on Sunday, Oct. 8, from 1 to 4 p.m., featuring the Jimmy Connor Band, Lester's Roadside BBQ and Ipswich Ale Brewery.
The hoedown is a benefit for Strongwater Farm, which uses a horse-farm setting to provide free therapy and support for people who often can't find help anywhere else, including veterans returning from war with severe PTSD, young people learning to cope with disabilities, and young mothers and fathers struggling with opioid and alcohol addiction. Strongwater Farm is a nonprofit corporation that receives no governmental funding. Most of its work is made possible by more than 300 volunteers, who see firsthand the improvements it brings to the lives of others.
The Harvest Hoedown is a family event. There will also be hayrides, games for the kids, raffles, dancing and a cash bar. The Jimmy Connor Band will provide musical entertainment. Connor, a native of Boxboro, was named the Most Promising Male Vocalist of the Year, Instrumentalist of the Year and Male Entertainer of the Year by the North America Country Music Association.
Hoedown tickets are $49.95 for adults, $25 for children ages 5-12, and free for kids under 5. Tickets are available at www.strongwaterfarm.org/harvest-hoe-down, by stopping by Strongwater Farm, or by calling 978-851-5540. Advance reservations are recommended as attendance is limited.
This is a rain-or-shine event that is being sponsored in part by the Lowell Five. For more information, visit www.strongwaterfarm.org or call 978-851-5440.
